Toyota Yaris Hybrid Concept teased - Geneva Auto Show

While holding back all of the technical details until its official reveal in Geneva, Toyota has issued this official teaser image of the Yaris HSD Concept that it will display at the show. According to the press release, the hybrid Yaris HSD Concept "anticipates Toyota's intention to bring full hybrid technology to the B segment, the biggest volume segment in Europe."

Although still largely under wraps, we do know this subcompact gas/electric offering will feature several hybrid-specific styling cues that point the direction the automaker plans to take with future HSD products. Toyota also confirmed that it will share the spotlight with the equally new Prius+, a seven-seat version of the Prius V that was unveiled here last month in Detroit.

Although the release noted that the Yaris HSD "represents the next step in Toyota's full hybrid roll-out strategy in Europe," comments made by a U.S. spokesperson indicated that its place in the lineup here will be filled by a production version of the petite Prius C Concept, which also was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. Given the clear resemblance in at least the front fascia area, it will be interesting to see how much the Yaris HSD and the new mini-Prius have in common -- particularly since, like the current Prius and Yaris, the pair will share basic platform architecture.

How Fuel Efficient Is My Car?

It’s imperative for the modern consumer to be more educated so we understand which cars are the most fuel efficient and what car manufacturers are planning for the future.

Here’s what different car manufacturers and Consumer Reports had to say about the fuel efficiency of some of the cars Australians most commonly drive:

– Holden Commodore: Now part of the Ecoline range of vehicles made with fuel-saving technology. Bio-ethanol capable Commodores are “flex fuel” meaning they can run on regular unleaded petrol (ULP) or premium petrol as well as Bio-ethanol E85 and E10. Bio-ethanol is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. This option not only saves you money but increases the power and performance of your Commodore.

– Toyota Hilux: Most well known as durable trucks great for commerical use. These vehicles have a reputation for being unbreakable and long lasting so the Hilux driver gets a better return on their initial investment by driving their truck longer.

– The Mazda3: City 33.81, Highway 62.79 (Kilometres Per Litre)

– Toyota Corolla: City 37.03, Highway 64.4 (Kilometres Per Litre) American Consumer Reports Rated the Corolla #14 for best fuel mileage in 2010.

– Ford Falcon: Ford Falcons have been designed, developed and built in Australia since 1972 specifically for the requirements and road conditions of Australian drivers. Modern Falcon models come with a $2,000 Government grant available for optional E-Gas Engines. E-Gas saves up to 50% over petrol.

– Mitsubishi Lancer: Urban 42.5, Extra Urban 66.8, Combined 55.4 (Kilometres Per Litre)

– Hyundai Getz: Urban 65.8, Extra Urban 96.8, Combined 82.8 (Kilometres Per Litre)

– Toyota Yaris: City 37.03, Highway 66.01 (Kilometres Per Litre). American consumer reports rated the Yaris #13 for best fuel mileage in 2010.

One recent report shows the following cars to be the most fuel efficient:

1. 2010 Toyota Prius: City 82.11, Highway 77.28 (Kilometres Per Litre)
2. 2010 Honda Civic: City 64.4, Highway 72.45 (Kilometres Per Litre)
3. 2010 Honda Insight: City 64.4, Highway 69.23 (Kilometres Per Litre)
4. 2011 Audi A3: City 48.3, Highway 67.62 (Kilometres Per Litre)
5. 2010 Audi A3: City 48.3, Highway 67.62 (Kilometres Per Litre)

Ford reports the following cars, trucks and SUVs to be the most fuel efficient their class:

1. 2010 Ford Fiesta: City 46.69, Highway 64.4 (Kilometres Per Litre)
2. 2010 Ford Focus: City 40.25, Highway 56.35 (Kilometres Per Litre). Ford is scheduled to release a battery electric version of the Ford Focus in 2011.
3. 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid: City 66.01 Highway 57.96 (Kilometres Per Litre). The Ford Fusion Hybrid can go more than 1,127 city kilometres between fill-ups and travel up to 75.67 (Kilometres Per Litre) in electric vehicle mode.
4. 2010 Ford Ranger Truck: City 35.42, Highway 43.47 (Kilometres Per Litre)
5. 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid: City 54.74, Highway 49.91 (Kilometres Per Litre)

The following results feature the 15 most fuel efficient cars currently sold throughout the world today. This Consumer Reports group is a non-profit organization that conducts specific tests on all vehicles to measure fuel economy each year. They use a precision flow meter and calculate overall kilometres by testing each vehicle on equal portions of the city and high expressway driving a 241.5 kilometre trip.

These results reflect the Overall (Kilometres Per Litre) rating with Highway (Kilometres Per Litre) up to 17.71 (Kilometres Per Litre) more in fuel efficiency for each.

1. Toyota Prius IV: 70.84 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
2. Smart For Two Passion: 62.79 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
3. Honda Insight EX: 61.18 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
4. Volkswagen Gold TDI: 61.18 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
5. Honda Civic Hybrid: 59.57 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
6. Toyota Camry Hybrid: 54.74 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
7. Ford Fusion Hybrid: 54.74 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
8. Scion xD: 54.74 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
9. Mini Cooper: 53.13 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
10. Honda Fit Sport: 53.13 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
11. Volkswagen Jetta TDI: 53.13 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
12. Nissan Altima Hybrid: 51.52 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
13. Toyota Yaris (base): 51.52 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
14. Toyota Corolla LE: 51.52 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)
15. Toyota Corolla (base): 51.52 Overall (Kilometres Per Litre)

Note: Fuel efficiency reported in Miles Per Gallon was converted to Kilometres Per Litre using standard conversion calculations of 1 Mile Per Gallon equal to 1.61 Kilometre Per Litre.

When you think of Australia and cars, most often you think of racing. Australia obviously has a huge presence in racing with Mark Webber in the number one position for Formula One racing in 2010. Australia is also home to the International V8 Supercar racing series with more than 250,000 spectators attending the 14 weekend races each season.

V8 Supercars are modified versions of the locally built Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore. The Falcon and Holden vehicles are not only two of the most popular cars bought by Australian consumers, they are also most commonly used for taxis and police vehicles. Their rivalry on Australian roadways overflows onto the racetracks which lends additional excitement to the V8 Supercar series, with people belonging to either the “Ford tribe’ or the “Holden tribe”.

What a lot of people may not know is that Australia has also been an established manufacturer and exporter of automobiles since the 1900s; Australia has its share of pioneers in the car industry. Colonel Harley Tarrant built the first automobile in Victoria in 1901. Australian Six was an Australian automobile manufactured locally from 1919 to 1925. Ford Australia was established in Victoria in 1925 and is the only Australian car manufacturer which designs and manufactures its own unique high-volume engine.

Toyota Australia and Chrysler Australia were established in the 1950s. Holden, originally an independent Australian automaker, became a subsidiary of General Motors in 1931 and is still producing the beloved Holden series today.

Other Australian automakers and designers include Guy Buckingham, who founded Nota in 1952, Queensland’s Barry Lock founder of Kaditcha, and Matt Thomas designer of the Joss Supercar. There have been between 40 and 50 different automobile makers and vehicle manufacturers located in Australia over the past 90 years offering a wide variety of locally produced vehicles to the Australian people.

The Top Selling Cars in Australia for 2010 include:

1. Holden Commodore
2. Toyota Hilux
3. Mazda3
4. Toyota Corolla
5. Hyundai i30
6. Ford Falcon
7. Holden Cruze
8. Mitsubishi Lancer
9. Hyundai Getz
10. Toyota Yaris

Australia’s history with the automobile is rich. Australian car manufacturers have recognized the importance of participating in the development of automobiles for more than 100 years and have left their own footprint on the industry with innovative contributions like the Ute, fast engines and racing cars.

Today the Australian market offers a variety of sporty and fuel-efficient vehicles to meet the needs of all consumers with a strong focus on developing more “earth friendly” and cost effective technologies. Two of Australia’s favourites, the Holden and Falcon series, have both been redesigned with new alternative fuels like LPG and E85 with future plans for electricity and fuel cell in the works.

Australian car manufacturers continue to redesign and refine vehicles to better meet the future needs of all drivers. Education is the key as you look forward to purchasing your next vehicle.

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept 2011

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept Toyota’s most impressive debut at the Geneva Motor Show was obviously the FT-86 II Concept, but the Japanese automaker came to Switzerland with other impressive concepts as well, including the Yaris HSD concept. This HSD concept previews a production version set to be revealed in 2012.

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept In the official press release Toyota said: “Making its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Yaris HSD concept anticipates Toyota’s intention to bring full hybrid technology to the B segment, the biggest volume segment in Europe. This represents the next step in Toyota’s full hybrid roll-out strategy in Europe. Incorporating several hybrid-specific styling cues, the Yaris HSD concept introduces a new, forward-looking design execution.”

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept Toyota aims to complete the application of full hybrid technology across its main models in Europe as early as possible in the 2020s. Following the successful introduction of the Auris HSD to the C-segment in 2010, the Yaris HSD concept anticipates Toyota’s intention to bring Hybrid Synergy Drive to the B-segment, the biggest volume segment in Europe.

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept 3 Toyota Yaris HSD new concept 2011

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept Compared to a standard Yaris, the HSD Concept features a new, more advanced and sophisticated style to the exterior design. It gets new highly contoured headlamps, a Toyota logo fully integrated within the front lip of the bonnet, a long, sweeping roofline, and a single, crisp character line which runs smoothly throughout the length of the vehicle.

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept The exterior package is finished by flat, vertical ‘aero’ corners housing front fog-lamps and matching rear reflectors, a large, integral rear spoiler, comprehensive underbody covers and 18″ aero wheels featuring enlarged air gaps for improved cooling air flow.
Engine. The company benefits from the latest Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system that not only generates zero CO2 emissions
, but also zero NOX and particulate (PM) emissions. The engine uses a maintenance-free timing chain and has no drive belts, improving reliability and bringing further cost savings.

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept 4 Toyota Yaris HSD new concept 2011

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept As far as performance figures go, Toyota is keeping mum. However, they stated that they had a few problems when making the Yaris hybrid, so we are expecting less than impressive numbers. After all, the current standard Yaris uses a 1.5L four cylinder engine that produces 106 hp at 6000 rpm and 103 lb.-ft. at 4200 rpm. A hybrid version of the same car would provide even lower numbers. Then there’s the idea that if Toyota had problems getting the Yaris to go hybrid, what’s to say those problems won’t be reflected in the road? Toyota isn’t exactly synonymous with safety these days.
When Can I Buy One?The production Yaris HSD will go on sale in 2012
with prices being announced at a later date.

Competition
Toyota Yaris HSD new concept

Toyota Yaris HSD new concept The biggest competitor for the Yaris hybrid is the recently launched Honda Jazz hybrid. This model features a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine combined with a CVT gearbox. An electric motor can be found smack dab in the middle of the two to create a parallel hybrid system with a total output of 101 HP. The bad news, however, is that the Jazz Hybrid will not be offered on the US market. Well, technically, this is good news for Toyota.

Environmentally Friendly and People-friendly Functional Performance

Performance
All models adopt a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with both the 1.0-liter 1KR-FE engine and the new 1.3-liter 1NR-FE engine featuring the Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system, thus giving a smooth, comfortable, stable ride.

Fuel efficiency has been improved with an eye to reducing CO2 emissions. The 1.0-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) gets 22.5 km/L in the traditional 10-15 test cycle outlined by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT); equivalent to 103 g/km of CO2 emissions. In the JC08 test cycle, the vehicle gets 20.8 km/L, which is equivalent to 112 g/km of CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, the 1.3-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) gets 21.0 km/L in the 10-15 test cycle, equivalent to 111 g/km of CO2 emissions.

The 1.0-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) surpasses the existing Japanese 2010 fuel efficiency standards2 by 25%, thereby meeting the new 2015 fuel efficiency standard2. The 1.3-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) exceeds the 2010 fuel efficiency standards by 15%. All vehicles in the series achieve emission levels 75% lower than the 2005 standards under the MLIT Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles.

Under the Japanese government's taxation system introduced in April 2009 for environmentally friendly vehicles, the 1.0-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) qualifies for a 75% reduction in the automobile acquisition tax and automobile weight tax, while the 1.3-liter model (with front-wheel-drive) is eligible for a 50% reduction in the same taxes.

An Eco Driving Indicator that shows fuel-efficient vehicle operation and a button-operated driving status monitor that indicates the vehicle's average fuel efficiency are both standard on all Passo models.

The vehicles were produced in line with TMC's Eco-Vehicle Assessment System, an original, comprehensive, environmental impact assessment system that sets targets at the start of vehicle development to help reduce environmentally harmful factors by such means as the balanced reduction of CO2 emissions.

Review of materials, processing methods and adhesives used for interior parts reduced volatile organic compounds and sometimes-unpleasant interior odors to levels compliant with the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association's "Vehicle Cabin VOC Testing Methods (for Passenger Cars)", which are voluntary industry standards.

Safety

The VSC & TRC system (Vehicle Stability Control & Traction Control system; available as a manufacturer's option on all models except the V package)—created by combining the VSC system that monitors lateral traction and automatically controls engine output and distribution of braking force with the TRC system that limits wheel-spin during starting and acceleration—secures appropriate driving force and facilitates smooth acceleration.

All vehicles come equipped with SRS airbags for both the driver and front-passenger seats. SRS side airbags also provide chests protection, while SRS curtain-shield airbags aim to reduce head injuries.

Exceptional collision safety in the event of frontal, side or rear collisions is pursued through the advanced Global Outstanding Assessment body that incorporates omni-directional compatibility.

The vehicle's body is designed to reduce head or leg injury to pedestrians in the unfortunate event of a collision.

The front seats are equipped with Active Headrests that shift to an appropriate position in the case of a rear-end collision in order to lessen stress on the neck and reduce the risk of whiplash injuries.

Welcabs: Vehicles with special factory-installed features for the disabled

Welcab Lift-up Front Passenger Seat models for both Type A and Type B vehicles feature a seat that slides down to the outside of the vehicle for easier ingress and regress. The compact design of the lift-up mechanism increases rear-seat legroom, while a seat-slide switch and reclining switch on both sides of the lift-up seat now also enable operation from the driver's seat. The Type B vehicle comes with a motorized wheelchair storage device as a standard feature.

The 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter front-wheel-drive models qualify for a reduction in the automobile acquisition tax and automobile weight tax under the Japanese government's taxation system for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Welcab models of the Passo will be available from April 20.

New Toyota Passo and Daihatsu Boon 2010

Daihatsu Boon 2010_

You do not know either the Toyota Passo or the Daihatsu Boon? Normally, they are only sold in Japan. And no relation to the famous comedian from the North. The style is best known in our region through the older generation currently used by the Daihatsu Sirion, so renowned.

Important in its market, the Passo is the 4th best selling in the country in 2009 with nearly 100,000 units sold. The new generation began a few days for a little more roundness.

Less high, they hit an air of future Nissan Micra, but playing in the lower category with 3.64 m long, 1.66 m wide and 1.53 m high. The wheels resting around leave a wheelbase of 2.44 m for a welcoming interior.

Toyota Passo heading to China?

Toyota Passo

Toyota’s sub 1.6L and affordable car selection is not as wide and as varied as you might think, and due to Toyota missing out on a major slice of the market earlier this year when the market was largely driven by sub 1.6L displacement vehicles, Toyota are planning a large assault on the small car market, and plan to make Toyota’s more affordable.

Toyota is apaprently planning to put the Toyota Passo into production in China, and (albeit a single) spy picture shows the car out testing in China. In overseas markets the Passo is often known as the Daihatsu Sirion and comes in AWD and FWD configuration, it is unclear what the Chinese market will receive, although this is likely to be Toyota’s new entry level vehicle and will be in the 50,000rmb to 70,000rmb segment.

The 2011 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire

The name Alphard derives from the brightest star in Hydra constellation. The word originates from Arabic means the lonely one. The name fits well with the Toyota Alphard produced for the first time in 2002 specifically designed from the Japanese domestic market.

Toyota Alphard is the minivan car of choice for the upper class

The luxury car became very popular that Toyota then sold the brand in other Asian countries including in Indonesia. The 2002 Alphard did not enter Indonesia through Toyota official dealers instead Independent Importer imported the car either directly from Japan or through Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. Only in 2008 Toyota Astra as the Indonesian authorized Toyota dealer started to officially sell the car to the public.

In Indonesia Toyota Alphard is the minivan car of choice for the upper class, just like the Toyota Innova for the normal people. A lot of Indonesia well off families was buying the car even without sufficient spare parts support from the car maker.

It is estimated that the more than 3000 units Toyota Alphard were sold in Indonesia in the 2010.

In 2008 the new variant of Alphard called the Vellfire was introduced. The name is coined from “velvet” and “fire” to emphasize the vehicle’s “cool” and “passionate” characteristics. While the exterior of the Alphard emphasizes elegance and refinement, the exterior of Vellfire is more of power and innovation.

The Alphard front has a “V” shaped line stretching from the front pillars to the bumper with an elongated large headlights and the dynamic horizontal bar grille while at the rear a “V”-shaped-line running from the rear pillars with a solid bumper.

Vellfire is more of power and innovation

The Vellfire on the other hand has a stepped headlights and a horizontally accentuated grille that create a distinct impression, while the front mask, which emphasizes the lines flowing to the sides. At the rear the combination taillights adopt a stepped design using LEDs and clear lenses for a slick appearance.

The seating position of both vehicles is the same. The front seat is fitted with a preset driving position system allowing the position of the driver’s seat and door mirror to be adjusted to a preset position at the touch of a button. Meanwhile, comfortable heated seats, as well as a power footrest and 4-way power seat for the front passenger position, are among the features that contribute to passenger amenity and comfort.

Toyota Premium Sound System which has a total of 18 speakers for high-quality sound

Executive Power Seats available for the second row enhance passenger comfort and relaxation by offering large footrests fitted to the back of the seats in front, power leg rests, as well as large headrests and armrests.

Third-row seats feature an extra-space-creating mechanism that makes it substantially easier to fold away the seats and The long slide and reclining features of the rear seats make a wider variety of seat arrangements possible, while the second-row tip-up mechanism and the extra-space mechanism of the third row ensure ample luggage space.
The sound system is a Toyota Premium Sound System which has a total of 18 speakers for high-quality sound as well as superb acoustics for the whole cabin. The diaphragms of the front speakers are made of a bamboo fiber material for clearer sound reproduction and a rear-seat entertainment system, allowing independent sound control for the rear seats and also featuring a large 9-inch Video Graphics Array monitor screen activated by wireless remote control.

The 2.4-liter, front-wheel-drive models boast a fuel efficiency of 11.6km/l in the 10-15 test cycle outlined by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) with CO2 emissions under the test cycle just 200g/km, achieving fuel efficiency that exceeds by 25% the level called for by the Japanese 2010 standards.

In Indonesia there are three variant of Alphard available 3.5G, 2.4G and 2.4X with 6 color options.

The current prices for Alphard are

Toyota ALPHARD Review

The debut of ALPHARD is in May, 2002. "Dynamism & hospitality" was made into the development concept, and while pursuing the degree of a high-class saloon's comfort and silence, or a style and a run with presence, it realized superior quality treats of interior space by material, lighting, and equipment. It, so to speak, is the "best minivan". By adoption of FF layout, the interior of a room realizes a low floor and high indoor quantity. The outstanding getting-on-and-off nature and outstanding amenity are conjointly secured with adoption of a both-sides slide door. A sheet layout sets up two types of seven-person riding and eight-person riding, and colorful sheet arrangements, such as a full flat and second sheet rotation, are possible for it. Engine are V6 3.0L. or 2.4L, both DOHC. As for the transmission, full-time 4WD or FF is available.

Alphard MPV

Toyota has launched the latest generation Toyota Alphard MPV, and this time around the Alphard also gets a twin with minor exterior differences portraying a more aggressive look called the Toyota Vellfire.

Toyota has been known to do this with its JDM cars – the Toyota Noah has an evil twin called the Toyota Voxy, and the Toyota Allion‘s twin is called the Toyota Premio.

Toyota has been known to do this with its JDM cars – the Toyota Noah has an evil twin called the Toyota Voxy, and the Toyota Allion‘s twin is called the Toyota Premio.

The Alphard (and Vellfire) is larger now, with a longer wheelbase of 2,950mm versus the previous generation’s 2,900mm wheelbase.

Each MPV has two engine choices – either a 2AZ-FE 2.4 liter DOHC VVT-i inline-4 engine mated to a Super CVT-i stepless gearbox with the option of 7 virtual gear ratios, or a 2GR-FE 3.5 liter V6 engine with a 6-speed Super ECT transmission.

The MPVs feature S-VCS (Steering-assisted Vehicle Stability Control) which can correct steering angles as well as adjust power and brake in efforts to stabilize the MPV.

New Toyota VellfireAs expected, the new Toyota Alphard is a slightly toned down production version of the Toyota FT-MV concept showed at last year’s 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Toyota says the Alphard design represents “elegance and refinement”, while the Vellfire represents “power and innovation”.

The name Vellfire was derived by combining the words velvet and fire. The vehicles have slightly different front and rear looks, with the Vellfire having two-stepped headlamps at the front, and clear lense tail lamps at the rear. Both vehicles also feature rear wipers that fold away into the roof spoiler so that the rear looks cleaner when you do not need the rear wipers.

Toyota ALPHARD History and Specifications

ALPHARD

The Toyota Alphard is a luxury MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota since 2002. It is available as a seven or eight-seater with 2.4 and 3.0-litre gasoline engines in 3 different model lines – Alphard G, Alphard V and Alphard Hybrid. The Alphard is primarily made for the Japanese market, but is also sold in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Singapore Thailand, and Malaysia. The vehicle was named after the Alphard, the brightest star in the constellation Hydra.

Toyota states its “E-Four electric 4WD system that regulates a rear-mounted, rear-wheel-propelling electric motor and coordinates electric power distribution to all four wheels. An ECB (Electrically Controlled Brake system) provides efficient wheel-by-wheel brake control.”

The full-size Alphard Hybrid MPV qualifies as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), achieving levels 75% lower emissions than the Japanese government’s 2000 benchmark. The 2.4-litre gasoline engine has been developed specifically for use in Toyota’s hybrid systems and features a high-expansion ratio cycle that raises efficiency and reduces friction.

In 2006, a Royal Lounge Alphard was introduced. It is a luxurious, four-seat version of the Alphard.

“BY-WIRE” TECHNOLOGY

The Alphard Hybrid uses “by-wire” technology that monitors brake pedal pressure and vehicle speed in order to calculate the optimum hydraulic pressure. By-wire works with the E-Four to maximize the collection of kinetic energy from braking for conversion into electric power.

The Alphard Hybrid Minivan can generate up to 1,500 watts and is equipped with standard 100-volt AC power outlets, allowing a wide range of appliances to be used, such as laptops and emergency lights. The electrical outlets can also be used to recharge items such as power-assisted bicycles and electric carts, adding a new dimension to leisure activities.

The Alphard Hybrid also offers some advanced safety features not seen on other hybrids. In fact, standard on the “G edition” and optional on standard grades are ( with a G-BOOK compatible DVD voice navigation system):

  • Blind Corner Monitor, which indicates the approach of other vehicles or pedestrians from the left and right
  • Back Guide Monitor with a color CCD camera and voice-guidance function, which uses signals from a steering sensor to calculate the likely reverse path during reversing and display it on the monitor screen
  • Lane-monitoring system that uses images from the Back Guide Monitor camera to measure the lateral distance to white or yellow lines on major highways and triggers an alarm when the distance falls below a pre-set level
  • Radar Cruise Control, which uses laser radar sensors and steering sensors to keep track of the vehicle’s lane and any preceding vehicle and ensures that a safe distance is maintained in accordance with vehicle speed
  • Toyota-Alphard-photo

BUILT-IN ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION

In addition, optional on all grades is a built-in electronic toll collection unit that allows for quick tollgate pass-through (only available with a navigation system). The Alphard Hybrid achieves approximately 42 mpg and boasts an insulated body and newly developed two-way compressor that is incorporated in the motor to optimize the use of the air conditioner, conserving fuel. The Alphard Hybrid’s specially developed windshield glass also reduces the amount of solar radiation penetration. In addition, the roof and roof panels contain an insulating material to reduce cabin temperature, which helps conserve energy when the air conditioner is operating.

2012 Toyota Vios

The new hatchback : 2012 Toyota Vios

The Toyota Vios and also the Toyota Vitz are primarily hatchback and sedan siblings, and in reality in some markets they each share an equivalent name – the Toyota Yaris, differentiated solely by its bodytype. Since the new Toyota Vitz has been launched in Japan, it’s solely a matter of your time before a replacement Vios sedan seems to enrich the new hatchback.

Theophilus Chin whipped up these renderings of how a sedan primarily based on the new Toyota Vitz might appear as if. The Vios was launched in 2007 and was facelifted in 2010, therefore a replacement one may be due by the top of this year or early next year. The Vitz wheelbase has grown longer from a pair of,450mm to 2,510mm however I don’t assume a replacement Vios can grow to any extent further than its current a pair of,550mm wheelbase, that is already longer than the last generation hatchback.

FHM’s review of the Toyota Vios

Review of the Toyota Vios
This might sound trite, but really, the Vios is a smart choice for those who are looking for a reliable car for driving around the city.

It’s one of those cars that it’s hard to feel any buyer’s remorse for. It’s economical, practical, fuel-efficient, comfortable, and surely it doesn’t look half bad.

Now, the 2010 model has arrived, and Toyota has done nothing but improve upon the Vios’ already value-packed set of features. Notably, they have added a new member to the Vios family in the form of the 1.3 automatic transmission variant.

It has undergone some subtle yet refreshing aesthetic changes that are sure to keep the Vios from looking outdated. And with other car manufacturers beginning to introduce newer subcompact models, it has never been more important for the Vios to be on the edge.

Its front profile gets a face lift, starting with a redesigned front grille that features bolder yet still elegant lines. The front bumper and the fog lamps takes on a more angular appearance, giving the Vios a more manly presence on the road.

The opposite end meanwhile features new, fresh-looking rear combination lamps, which while nothing groundbreaking, still serves to give this car a breath of fresh air. Fifteen-inch alloy wheels complete the Vios’ eye-catching, handsome looks.

Inside, the Vios is still about convenience and practicality, as evidenced by the seamless layout of the cockpit, and the easy placement of all the important controls, while the new sporty leather steering wheel aims to help the car keep in touch with the car’s youthful market.

For you and your family’s safety, the Vios is equipped with healthy set of safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), brake assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, 4-wheel disc brakes, and dual SRS airbags.

Thanks to its compact size, the Vios doesn’t have to slog through city roads even with the smallest engine variant, the 1.3L DOHC 4-cylinder 16-valve engine. The 1.5L variant meanwhile produces around 107hp at 6,000 rpm. Both engines claim to have best-in-class fuel efficiency.
